Abby Chen

Abby Chen is a curator, writer, lecturer, producer and art administrator. She is currently the Curator and Deputy Director at the Chinese Culture Foundation of San Francisco. At CCF, she initiated the Xian Rui Annual Series in 2008, the first of its kind in the country supporting mid-career Chinese artists living in the US. Her other curatorial projects include Present Tense Biennial (http://www.c-c-c.org/2009/04/06/present-tense-biennial-2009-52-823/), Daily Lives (http://www.ybca.org/daily-livesat Yerba Buena Center For the Arts, Contemporary Photography at Museum of Chinese in America in New York. In 2010, she organized Gender Identity Symposium, a multi-city forum in Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai, followed by the 2011 exhibition WOMEN (http://abbychen.com/section/267436_WOMEN.html) on feminism, gender equality and social engagement in China. Her writings focus on cultural hybridity, marginalization and 1.5 generation. She is a contributing writer for Yishu (http://yishu-online.com/browse-articles/?509), Art China, and East Morning Daily. She graduated with MA in Visual and Critical Studies at California College of Arts.
