Berin Golonu

Berin Golonu is a doctoral student in the Visual and Cultural Studies program at the University of Rochester. Her feature articles and reviews have appeared in numerous national and international arts publications, including Afterimage, Aperture, Art in America, Art on Paper, Art Papers, Contemporary, frieze and Zing Magazine, among others. A recent book project, Recipes for an Encounter, co-edited with Candice Hopkins and Marisa Jahn, was released by Western Front Editions in Winter 2010. The book was presented as an exhibition at the Dorsky Gallery in Long Island City in September 2010. Past curatorial projects include The Gatherers: Greening Our Urban Spheres (fall 2008); The Way That We Rhyme: Women, Art & Politics (spring 2008); Bay Area Now (2004 and 2008); The Zine UnBound (2005); a series of exhibitions highlighting collective activity titled Peer Pleasure (2006), and Underplayed: A Mix-Tape of Music-Based Videos (2006), all presented at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco where Golonu served as Associate Curator (2003-2008).
