Matthew Tedford
Matthew Harrison Tedford is an editor and writer living in San Francisco. He is an associate editor and contributing writer for Art Practical. He is also a contributing writer for Poor Taste Magazine and New American Paintings‘ blog. He is co-founder and co-editor of Elastic: New Currents in Visual Inquiry with Lia Wilson. He edited the monograph Stella Zhang: 0-Viewpoint (Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco, 2010). He has recently lectured at the 20th annual Philosophy, Interpretation, and Culture Conference (April 2010, Vestal, NY) and the 27th annual International Social Philosophy Conference (July 2010, Toronto, ON). At CCA he has served as a teaching assistant for Human Information Processor, Master of Architecture Research Seminar, and several ESL courses. His interests lie at the intersection of art, political theory, and social philosophy; as well as publishing and undergraduate pedagogy.
Matthew holds an honors BA in Philosophy from the University of California, Santa Cruz (Stevenson College). While at UC Santa Cruz he was awarded the Stevenson College Junior Fellowship, teaching “Self and Society,” the college’s philosophy and social sciences core course. He has worked as an editorial assistant for SF Camerawork Publications and as an editorial intern for McSweeney’s Publishing, LLC and The Believer.
