Casey Carroll
A New York native — no, not “The City” — Casey’s proudly representing Upstate. Bred on home-cooked meals, backyard blueberries, and a steady diet of potato chips, her love for food started early. With a B.A. in creative non-fiction and minor in photography from Ithaca College and a decade of experience in the food industry under her belt, Casey turned in her waitressing apron for grad school, moving to San Francisco to get a M.A. in Visual and Critical Studies at CCA. Her focus is on representations of food and farming, ecological thinking, social and cultural geography, sustainability and social change. Casey spends her free time writing for the Culture section of Poor Taste Magazine, maintaining her blog Gastronomic Grove, reading and researching any and everything food, cooking, making lists, trekking outside the city, and learning how to garden.
