Stephanie Ellis

Stephanie Ellis is an interdisciplinary scholar. She investigates how visual relations exclude or ignore what does not fit into ideal categories and what intellectual feats produce such erasures.

Ellis received a MFA and PhD in the “Theories and Practices of Visual Culture” from the University of California at Davis. She received a UCD scholarship to Skowhegan and a UC Intercampus Arts Program Grant.

Her writing has appeared in journals such as parallax, Feminist Studies and Architectural Design. She sometimes curates. Work/Space was a nationally traveling exhibition on corporate culture. Security will open at Root Division in March 2010. She is an artist and likes to teach studio as well as visual studies seminars. Stephanie Ellis is part of a collaboration iiiahh.com that was recently awarded a 2010 Alternative Exposure grant.
