Stephanie Ellis is an interdisciplinary scholar. She investigates how visual relations exclude or ignore what does not fit into ideal categories and what intellectual feats produce such erasures.
Ellis received a MFA and PhD in the “Theories and Practices of Visual Culture” from the University of California at Davis. She received a UCD scholarship to Skowhegan and a UC Intercampus Arts Program Grant.
Her writing has appeared in journals such as parallax, Feminist Studies and Architectural Design. She sometimes curates. Work/Space was a nationally traveling exhibition on corporate culture. Security will open at Root Division in March 2010. She is an artist and likes to teach studio as well as visual studies seminars.
