The two-year MA curriculum prepares students for a range of careers in the arts, providing a strong background in theory, research, and writing. The three-year dual-degree program provides students with unique opportunities to integrate the core curriculum of Visual & Critical Studies with a course of study in another graduate program at CCA. Participating programs include Design, Curatorial Practice, Fine Arts, and Writing. Additionally, we offer a Concentration in Visual & Critical Studies for Master of Architecture (MArch) students who would like to expand their ability to interpret and write about the complexities of the visual landscape.
Five Core Courses serve as a foundation in the Visual & Critical Studies Graduate Program. These classes prepare VCS candidates for directed study in the final sequence of three Master’s Project courses. Select Electives offered each year allow students to tailor their coursework to best support their academic and artistic ambitions.
